It's 7 degrees here. That's a respectable kind of cold. The kind of cold that doesn't mess around. Sometimes the cold in LA can joke around a little, never gets too serious. No...not this cold...this cold has no sense of humor. It  doesn't like people.

The problem with Xanga is that I feel compelled to write a lot when I post. This is a problem for someone who rarely enjoys writing.

I'm back in Illinois for break. I say break, because I still view the year as being broken up into to semesters, summer vacation, Christmas break, etc. I wonder how long after graduation that is supposed to last. I just got back from Iowa, where it snowed a beatiful 3 inches, to cover the half inch of ice which had arrived the previous night. Country roads covered in ice covered in snow. Safe. I wish I had my old car without ABS.

The good news - my cousin gave me an old 8mm projector. The thing has to be from the 1930's. He got it with a bunch of other stuff at an auction, and it even includes a 50 foot roll of someone's vacation in the 1950's. No idea who. All I know about the previous owner is they had no sense of what makes an interesting shot. Also...8mm film must have been a lot cheaper in those days. I'd never dream of burning 20 feet on a wide shot of a stream flowing.

My next two weeks should include but are not limited to the following things...
Sorting through all of my parents' old super8mm movies.
A fair amount of lan parties. (If you don't know what that is, be happy you're that much less of a nerd.)
Late nights at Steak 'N Shake (on Wabash).
And hopefully at least one flaming toaster. (If you don't know what that is, then you should look it up.)

End transmission.

Today I got the worst haircut of my life. It's all up hill from here...

Just found out color timing for Clear View will happen on Tuesday morning. Ah..the end is in sight. I feel like I've been chasing this day for the last 4 months. Third most common phrase said by me this fall: "I think we're going to be color timing sometime next week."

Also - looking forward to going home in a week. Late night conversations with Skoog at Steak 'N Shake.
